LONDONERS think that the Gherkin in the City of London has enhanced the capital’s skyline – but remain unsure about the new Walkie Talkie.
The Gherkin at 30 St Mary Axe was built 11 years ago and, according to 52% of the people that took part in a new Yougov survey, improves how the London cityscape looks.
The Shard, across the river, is even more popular with 57% giving the country’s tallest building the thumbs up.
But the Walkie Talkie building in Fenchurch Street, which is much newer and not yet fully completed, has not yet convinced Londoners it has enhanced the skyline. Just 25% say the building has improved the view with 36% taking the opposing view.
